What is the Neocatechumenal Way?

The Neocatechumenal Way – lived in small communities made up of people from different age and social groups – is an itinerary of Catholic formation. This new catechetical experience, in line with the renewal inspired by the Vatican II Council, gradually leads the faithful to intimacy with Christ and transforms them into credible witnesses of the Good News.

It is a rediscovery of baptism and ongoing formation in the faith, and it is proposed both to the faithful and the far away who wish to rekindle in their lives the richness of Christian initiation.

The Neocatechumenal Way, founded and lived as a tripod consisting of the Word of God, Liturgy, and Community, leads to fraternal communion and mature faith. These communities walk towards a rediscovery of faith, showing signs of love and unity.

The first community of St Gabriel's was born in 2008. As of July 2025, the Neocatechumenal Way is active in more than 6000 parishes spanning 139 countries, with more than 120 missionary Redemptoris Mater seminaries (ten in the United States and one in Denver) forming more than 2000 seminarians (two walk with the St Gabriel's community). Colorado has more than 50 communities.
